What a one-day bath remodel in Fort Collins actually is
"One-day" describes the install, not the project. The room is measured first, a tub or shower base and acrylic or solid-surface wall panels are made or cut to fit, and then the installation itself takes about a day. Some systems cover the old tub and tile; better jobs take the old surround out first. Either way the selling point is speed and no grout, and the limit is that the shape and finish come from a catalog.
| Option | Typical cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Acrylic tub or shower system (liner) | $1,500 to $10,000, about $4,000 average | Fast install; set colors and patterns |
| Prefabricated shower stall | $2,000 to $6,000 | Molded base and walls in standard sizes |
| Prefabricated walk-in shower | $2,000 to $8,000 | Low-curb base, glass, panels |
| Tiled shower | $6,000 to $12,000 | Any layout; niches, bench, curbless possible |

When a quick acrylic system is the right call
- The tub or shower base is solid, with no flex, soft spots or stains on the ceiling below.
- The valve works and holds a steady temperature, so it doesn't need replacing.
- You're happy with the current footprint and a standard color or pattern.
- The bathroom can't be out of use for a week or more.
When tile earns the extra cost
Tile is the better buy when the shower needs to change shape or size, when you want a bench, niches or a curbless entry, or when the old walls show moisture and have to come out anyway. Once the wall is open to the studs, the price gap between an acrylic system and tile narrows, because the demolition, the new valve and the waterproofing are the same either way. The shower remodel page covers a tiled rebuild.
Questions to put to any quick-remodel quote
- Is the old tub or surround removed, or covered over?
- What waterproofing goes behind the new panels?
- Is the valve being replaced, and if so, who pulls the Fort Collins permit?
- What does the written guarantee cover, and for how long?
- What are the exact base and wall dimensions, and the panel thickness at the valve?
Warehouse-club and big-box bath programs work the same way: they quote after a visit, through an installer partner. Comparing those answers line by line tells you more than the totals. The Fort Collins bathroom and kitchen permit guide explains which changes need a permit.
